The official Black Panther trailer has recently been released, and it looks like it could very well be the movie that all Marvel and comic book fans have been waiting for. A film that could eclipse all the other Marvel films before it, if this trailer is anything to go by.
The Black Panther or T’Challa is played by acclaimed actor Chadwick Boseman and the trailer shows him arriving at a futuristic fictional African town, called Wakanda, his home and his kingdom, to take over the throne of his recently deceased father. As he settles into rule the land, he is immediately challenged by an old enemy, threatening the nation and the whole world. His nemesis, Ulysses Klaue (played by Andy Serkis) is back, and the stage is set for an epic showdown between the two power houses. Take a look at this amazing trailer!
It’s clear that this film may just have the right balance in the plot department to carry it through, not to mention an all-star cast which may cater to a more adult audience than previous Marvel films, which have frankly bored many viewers due to the lacklustre action scenes and thin plot lines.
Very stellar and believable performances from the cast of Angela Bassett, Lupita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman, Forest Whitaker and Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger, plus of course, there’s the usual cameo by Stan Lee, Mr. Marvel himself.
The action and special effects look breathtaking, and when we watched the trailer, we thought to ourselves, could this challenge in some dark film noir elements to match ‘Batman:The Dark Knight‘ of DC comics, but on a lesser plain?
Probably, but it won’t match up to that cult classic Batman film in any way. However, it definitely does look like the most exciting Marvel movie to date, with undoubtedly and arguably the coolest Marvel character to ever hit cinema screens. The production design and characters are getting all movie fans and most definitely Marvel fans, very excited, indeed.
It’s all a matter of if the story, the action, and the authenticity of the suspension of disbelief throughout the course of the film has the right blend and balance. If it does all that, we may even class this as something much more than just another Marvel movie. Seemingly, many past Marvel movies have catered to a younger audience, which will lose the attention of adults. There’s only so much that over the top action and explosions can do, with no good plot to even back it up.
With Ryan Coogler directing and writing, after his brilliant work with the film ‘Creed‘, we think that we may just be in for something different and much more captivating than most comic book films in recent years.
The film will hit cinemas on February 16th, 2018, and clearly people can’t wait for that date to come quicker. We know who our new favourite comic book character will be; from now on, it’s always going to be the Black Panther.
Brainstain, over and out!
