Controversial rapper XXXTentacion was shot dead in his car outside a motorcycle dealership in Florida on Monday afternoon, sparking a huge social media tribute onslaught. XXXTentacion, born Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was only 20-years old when he was apparently killed in an armed robbery, by what witnesses described as two hooded men that took off in another vehicle, a black Dodge Journey.
Celebrities like Kanye West, Travis Barker and Miley Cyrus have posted on social media about his passing and him being an inspiration. This is the same artist that violently assaulted his pregnant girlfriend, so that she needed corrective eye surgery, and is also the same artist that did a mock lynching of a white person on stage. He also served six months in jail back in 2015 for being apart of a home invasion.
To say that he was considered controversial is an understatement, and XXXTentacion had several court cases and lawsuits against him at the time of his death.
Fans soon posted a video from one of his social media livestreams where he talked about what he wished that he had achieved if he would die a violent death. Sadly, another video has cropped up on social media, which was at the scene of the crime, showing him dead in his BMW sports car, which has disappeared on many social media platforms but can still be found on YouTube.
The young rapper was pronounced dead at the hospital, with the The Broward County Sheriff’s Office confirming his death with the following tweet: “The adult male victim has been confirmed as 20 year old Jahseh Onfroy aka rapper #XXXTentacion”.
TMZ reported that the two shooters were wearing red face masks under their hoodie’s, and they drove off in the Dodge with tinted windows, escaping the scene, where they were said to have stolen the rappers Louis Vuitton bag.
The video of XXXTentacion slumped in his car, shows a passerby checking for a pulse. It’s questionable why he was suddenly targeted for the robbery. Was it perhaps an assassination? Nobody knows the motivations for the murder, and the police will be busy investigating the crime. They have already offered a $3,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the assailants.
What’s clear is that XXXTentacion was loved by his devoted fans, despite his criminal activities or charges, with even celebrities like Kanye West being a fan and tweeting the following after the news broke about his passing:
Drummer Travis Barker tweeted: ‘I’m at a loss for words… speechless #RIPXXXTentacion Loved collaborating with you. You were a true artist, one of the most f***ing talented of our time.’
This got me fucked up. RIP X. Enormous talent and limitless potential and a strong desire to be a better person. God bless his family, friends and fans.

In the livestream video dug up by fans after the news of his death broke, XXXTentacion said the following in what is now seen as a chilling premonition in foretelling his own violent death, while speaking to his fan base, thought to be recorded around December 2017, where he stated:
“If I’m going to die or ever be a sacrifice, I want to make sure that my life made at least five million kids happy or they found some sort of answers or resolve in my life regardless of the negative around my name, regardless of the bad things people say to me.”
“Do not let your depression make you. Do not let your body define your soul, let your soul find your body. Your mind is limitless. You are worth more than you can believe. All you have to do is dream and all you have to do is want to fulfill that dream and have the strength.”
XXXTentacion was awaiting trial on domestic violence charges at the time of his death, and had also been accused of witness tampering and had public feuds with other artists such as Drake and Ski Mask the Slump God.
You can watch the full livestream of XXXTentacion here below, where he talks to his fans about depression and his hopes as an artist. However, to think that he was a role model to teenagers, may not have sent out a positive message.
May he Rest in Peace.
