Yes, you read the headline correctly! Now what did Homer Simpson really do to have to “pay the piper” and dress up as drag queen in an upcoming episode of The Simpsons alongside RuPaul? Answers on a Springfield postcard please, because in a bizarre turn of events, man’s man “Homer” will be the latest star to cross-dress, joining the likes of numerous stars before him, including Jamie Foxx, Jared Leto, Wesley Snipes, Dustin Hoffman, John Leguizamo, Stephen Dorff, Kurt Russell, Michael J. Fox, Jude Law, Johnny Depp, David Duchovny, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the list goes on.
Well, Homer’s definitely in good company in joining this “rite of passage” into the club of “one time” or “two time” drag queens…
Indeed, it seems that goat Lucy and the mind of Matt Groening must have felt that it was time for Homer to pay the price, following on from the politically correct madness over Kwik E-Mart owner Apu Nahasapeemapetilon’s accent being deemed “racist” by seriously oversensitive people, after the documentary called ‘The Problem with Apu’ which was released in November last year, stirred up the debate.
Luckily, last week original The Simpsons writer, Al Jean, said that Apu will not be struck from the show, since those that were outraged about it do not actually speak for the show’s writers, producers, nor for Matt Groening himself.
The solution is apparently that Homer Simpson must take one for the team, but at least he’ll have the most famous drag queen of all right beside him, to show him how to “sashay” and kick his heels. RuPaul from RuPaul’s Drag Race show confirmed the news on his/her Instagram account, as follows: ‘I’m “Queen Chante” on #TheSimpsons Nov. at 8PM. So excited about this!’
RuPaul will be joined in the episode with other drag queens, Raja as well as Mama Ru, in this episode where Marge Simpson pretends to be a drag queen in order to sell Tupperware.
So, are the The Simpsons finally running out of ideas, after 29 seasons and 29 years? Well, that remains to be seen, as there doesn’t seem to be any end in sight, but now that Homer will wear a black cocktail dress and blonde beehive, in the episode called ‘Queen Chante’ many people are really starting to wonder… even us.
But, let’s not judge the episode till we’ve actually seen it, and Homer’s big debut as a cross-dresser will air on November 18th, so there’s always that to look forward to.
Has Homer Simpson had to pay penance to the dark lord, over recent controversies regarding The Simpsons in order to please the Illuminati and Lucifer over Apu being called a racist stereotype? Or is it just part and parcel of the emasculation of Homer, or it just good ol’ Simpsons humour? Please tell us your thoughts in the comments section down below.
